Christmas
It's that wonderful time of the year again! The children are very excitied for Christmas and CEIP Lourido is preparing for the special holiday. All classrooms are making Christmas trees out of recycled materials to comemorate our COMENIUS with Slovakia and Portugal. We will hang the trees in the hallway which means you will be able to see them when you come and drop off your kids. We hope that you enjoy the Christmas art around the school. We will continue updating you about the next projects. Have fun hanging up the Christmas lights!

Time for Halloween!
Halloween is a famous American tradition that takes place on October 31st. Children in America dress up with costumes and go to pumpking patches. Pumpkin patches are fields with a lot of pumpkins. Once children have picked their pumpkin they go home and carve it. A carved pumpkin with a candle inside is called a jack-o-lantern.
In English class the students listened to Monster Mash which is a traditional Halloween song in America. You can listen to it if you visit the following link. http://youtu.be/AxcM3nCsglA
In the beginning of the class the students saw a powerpoint that introduced different Halloween vocabulary words. The classroom was decorated with pumpkins, skeletons, spiders and many other traditional Halloween characters to make learning fun. The students participated in various arts and crafts and posted their art work throughtout the classroom. The children loved it and some even thought it looked spooky.
Halloween week was quite exciting for the children and it was a great way to learn new English words while enjoying a new cultural activity.
